William Hagerman opened Whistle Stop Art Studio located now in it's new location
at 700 Andrews Highway, Suite D
in Midland, Texas. It was first opened in January 2000 as Whistle Stop Art & Music where art classes
and music lessons were offered.
Today, the art studio focuses on the teaching of art as well as commissioned
art. There are four artists and three instructors currently teaching
classes at Whistle Stop Art Studio. Please see the art Instructor's Bio information

Art Classes for children and adults are available with instruction in a variety
of media including oils, watercolor, drawing and pastels and in different
artistic styles. Classes are taught in a relaxing atmosphere and are held at a
minimum, which allows for plenty of personalized instruction.

Artist Bios
William Hagerman:
William taught his first oil painting classes at the age of fifteen. Thirty years later he continues to pass along a wealth of accumulated knowledge in the art of oil painting to his students enrolled in his art classes. Judy Griffin:
Judy graduated with an all level art education degree from West Texas
State University in 1968 and began her instructional career soon
thereafter as an art teacher at Permian High School and Midland College.
She teaches basic and advanced art instruction in over 13 different
medias and in a variety of techniques and styles.
Along with judging area art shows, Judy's lifelong motivation has been
her love for the creative process and subsequent inspiration of over
9000 students.
Additionally Judy, produces commissioned work in oils, watercolor,
pencil and pastel media. Areas of emphasis include portraits, mural
landscapes, animals/wildlife and historical subjects.
Judy Tartt:
Art has been a foundational thread in the life of artist Judy Tartt
since she was four years old.
Part of her art education included two years at Texas Tech University as
an Art Major. Since then she has studied under local artist, Judy
Griffin and under nationally known artists; William Hagerman and
attended several workshops under Sante Fe, New Mexico artist Mike Mahon,
and “Butch” Krieger.
While Judy’s expertise is in portraiture, she also enjoys doing
landscapes and western art. The mediums she enjoys working in are
pencil, pastels, and oils. Judy
has an eye for detail and her style preference is realism. Judy has won
several art awards in the Odessa Art Association Show, Andrews Art Guild
Annual Art Show and a “People’s Choice Award” at the Annual Big Spring
Art Association Show.
In December 2008, Judy retired in order to pursue her art fulltime. She
teaches children and adult art classes and is available to do
commissioned pieces.
Judy has lived in Midland, Texas since 1985, is married and has two
married daughters and three grandchildren.
Diane K. Browne:
Diane
works in various art mediums including watercolor, colored pencil,
pastel and mixed media.
Regarding her work she says: "Many of my drawings are
very personal. The
people are often family members and the other subjects are usually from
photos of places I’ve been. My hope is that you enjoy my art and are
inspired to see the world a little differently, as well as be encouraged
to explore your own artistic talents. There’s no time like the present!"
Diane actively supports and promotes the arts in West Texas. She is a member of the Midland Art’s Association and Midland Palette Club, The Museum of the Southwest, Midland Theatre, Maverick Players Theater, as well as several business groups such as the Business and Professional Women. Ginger Witte:
Former owner of Art Pour Vous in Midland and now a part of Whistle
Stop Art Studio, Ginger, a lifelong artist, attended the Art
Institute of Houston and Texas Tech University.
Ginger has
been teaching private art lessons for children ages 5 to 15 since
1990 in a variety of media. Her students have participated in local
shows, and have won awards and have been recognized locally,
statewide, nationally, and internationally for artistic excellence!
