This painting had its start as a plein air study in Yellowstone National Park between the South and East entrances of the park. These popular falls were easy access, being viewable from the road, but I preferred the perspective from below the bridge. So, I walked down a path to get to the bottom and set my paint box up under the shade of the bridge. I allotted myself an hour to paint and I tried to tune out the crowd of people as I settled into painting mode. However, it was difficult to escape the sense of staring eyes behind me from the bridge above. Soon I heard a voice call out: "Hey, that looks pretty good!"
I said thank you, grinned and said to myself, most paintings do from that distance. I also think it's not too bad up close once I finished it.
